English Version

La Cagnina di Romagna DOC: The Sweet, Young Red Wine Perfect for Autumn

When the leaves begin to turn to gold, the air grows crisp, and market stalls fill with pumpkins, mushrooms, and chestnuts, an unmistakable aroma begins to spread through the homes and village festivals of Romagna. It is the smell of must turning into wine, of the recently completed harvest, and, in particular, of a liquid excellence that has warmed the hearts of local tradition for centuries: Cagnina di Romagna DOC.

While the rest of the world celebrates the autumn foliage and cozy seasonal atmospheres, the people of Romagna, more practically, know exactly what to pour into their glasses to celebrate this time of year. Cagnina is not simply a wine; it is the liquid symbol of the Romagnolo autumn, a sweet, easy-drinking red nectar that tells stories of conviviality, peasant traditions, and timeless gastronomic pairings.

An Ancient Grape Variety with Mysterious Origins

To fully understand Cagnina di Romagna DOC, we must take a step back in time and focus on the grape variety that gives it life: Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso. On Romagnolo soil, this grape found a second home and a very peculiar name: Anice or, precisely, the Cagnina vine.

But where does this unique name come from? Historical and popular theories intertwine:

The “biting” acidity: One of the most widely accepted theories suggests that the name comes from the original character of the grape. In the past, if vinified completely dry, this variety expressed a rather sharp acidity and tannic structure that “bit” the palate just like an exuberant little dog (cagnolino).

Loyalty to the land: Another much more romantic interpretation compares the vine to the loyalty of a dog (cane). It is a generous plant that never betrays the winemaker, always guaranteeing an excellent harvest by adapting perfectly to the clay soils of the Romagna hills.

Historical documents testify to the presence of this vine in Romagna as far back as the 13th century, likely imported by Venetian merchants or the monks who tended the territory. Over the centuries, the mastery of local producers managed to transform that initial sharpness into a sweet caress, giving life to the young wine we all love today. The recognition of the Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) status in 1988 sealed and protected this indissoluble identity.

Sensory Profile: Secrets in the Glass

Cagnina di Romagna DOC is a wine that reveals itself without filters, capable of winning you over from the very first glance thanks to its unique organoleptic properties. It is not a wine meant for long aging; on the contrary, it expresses its best when very young, just a few months—or even weeks—after the harvest.

Here is what to expect when you pour a glass:

Color: Visually, it displays an intense, vibrant ruby red, often enriched with brilliant violet reflections that testify to its extreme youth.

Aroma: On the nose, it is an explosion of fresh red and black berries. Dominant notes of Morello cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, and blackberry emerge, accompanied by a delicate floral hint of violet and, occasionally, a memory of fresh must and yeast.

Taste: On the palate, balance is its true winning weapon. The distinctly sugary sweetness is perfectly balanced by a pleasant underlying acidity and a barely noticeable, never intrusive tannic texture. It is a soft, velvety wine characterized by a light body and a moderate alcohol content (usually between 8.5% and 11% vol), making it incredibly pleasant and easy to drink.

Why Is It the Perfect Wine for Autumn?

By definition, Cagnina is a seasonal wine. By law, its commercialization begins just a few days after the harvest, right at the onset of autumn (often by the end of October). It is the classic vino novello (young wine) of tradition, meant to be consumed by the following spring.

Its fresh and fruity nature pairs masterfully with dropping temperatures and the desire for domestic warmth. When it rains outside or fog begins to shroud the plains, opening a bottle of Cagnina means bringing the joy and warmth of village festivals to the table.

Food Pairings: A Match Made in Heaven with Chestnuts

In Romagna, there is an unwritten rule, a true autumn ritual: Cagnina and chestnuts. There is no village festival—from Santarcangelo to Premilcuore to Marradi—or dinner with friends that does not conclude with this perfect pairing.

Hot roasted chestnuts, charred over the fire and slightly mealy, find their ideal contrast in the sweetness and freshness of Cagnina. The wine’s light acidity cleanses the palate from the pastiness of the chestnut, while the fruity notes enhance its sweet, earthy flavor.

However, limiting Cagnina to chestnuts alone would be a mistake. This sweet red proves to be an exceptional companion for all baked pastries and typical autumn desserts:

Traditional Romagnolo desserts: It is perfect when sipped alongside Ciambella Romagnola (the classic local cake meant for dunking), sweet tortelli filled with jam or mostarda, and dry pantry biscuits.

Chestnut-based sweets: It pairs beautifully with Castagnaccio (chestnut cake) or leavened desserts made with chestnut flour.

The bold pairing: If you want to be daring and follow old peasant customs, try it with aged cheeses or Formaggio di Fossa di Sogliano DOP. The contrast between the pungent, sharp sapidity of the cheese and the fruity sweetness of Cagnina will give you a surprising sensory experience.

How to Best Serve It

To fully enjoy this autumnal nectar, attention must be paid to how it is served. Cagnina should not be served at room temperature like great aged red wines. Because it is a young, sweet, and fresh wine, the ideal serving temperature ranges between 12°C and 14°C (54°F–57°F). A quick chill in the cellar or on the least cold shelf of the refrigerator before serving will help enhance the fruit components and balance the perception of sweetness, making it even more enjoyable. The ideal glass is medium-sized, capable of concentrating the primary aromas of the freshly harvested grapes.

In a wine world that often rewards aging, oak barrels, and structural complexity, Cagnina di Romagna DOC reminds us of the beauty of simplicity, immediacy, and the connection to the rhythms of the earth. It is a wine that does not intellectualize; instead, it aims straight for the heart (and the palate) with its straightforward, welcoming, and deeply Romagnolo soul. This autumn, when the call of the sofa and the fireplace makes itself heard, stock up on roasted chestnuts, gather your loved ones, and uncork a bottle of Cagnina. It will be the best way to welcome the coziest season of the year.

English Version

Among the hills and mountains that separate Romagna from the Marche lies a gastronomic heritage that originates far from cultivated fields and markets: the mushrooms and truffles of the Apennines. These are woodland products, closely linked to the seasons, rainfall, soil quality and the biodiversity of an area where beech woods, oak forests, chestnut groves and mixed woodlands provide ideal conditions for many species.

Searching for mushrooms and truffles is not simply an activity connected with food. It is a tradition that tells the story of the ancient relationship between Apennine communities and nature. A relationship based on knowledge, patience and respect for the woodland, but also on recipes handed down through generations. These mountains provide ingredients capable of turning a simple plate of pasta, a serving of polenta or a slice of bread into a speciality with an intense and unmistakable aroma.

Mushrooms of the Apennines Between Romagna and the Marche: the Best-Known Varieties

When we talk about mushrooms from the Romagna and Marche Apennines, our thoughts immediately turn to porcini, one of the undisputed stars of autumn cuisine. Their intense aroma, meaty texture and rich flavour make them particularly appreciated both fresh and preserved.

The Apennine woodlands are home to a great variety of edible species. Among the best known are chanterelles, with their distinctive yellow colour and delicate aroma, and honey mushrooms, which are traditionally used in a variety of dishes after proper cooking.

There are also less common species that are particularly sought after by enthusiasts. The season, weather conditions and altitude have a major influence on mushroom growth: after rainfall, when the soil retains a good level of moisture and temperatures are favourable, the woodland can become a true treasure trove of aromas.

It is important to remember that mushroom foraging requires expertise. An edible species can be mistaken for a toxic or poisonous variety and, whenever there is any doubt, the mushroom should not be eaten. Mushroom picking is also regulated by specific laws, which may vary depending on the area.

Porcini: the King of Autumn Cuisine in the Apennines

Among all mushrooms, porcini hold a special place in Apennine gastronomy. Their intense aroma and full-bodied flavour make them the star of countless recipes, from traditional peasant cuisine to modern restaurant menus.

A good-quality fresh porcino can simply be sliced and sautéed in a pan with extra virgin olive oil, garlic and parsley. It is a simple preparation, precisely because it allows all the mushroom’s natural characteristics to shine.

Porcini are also a perfect match for tagliatelle, another great symbol of Emilia-Romagna’s cuisine. Their flavour also pairs beautifully with polenta, meat, eggs and baked dishes.

Another traditional preservation method is drying, which allows the mushrooms to be kept for a long time while further concentrating their aroma. Just a few grams of dried porcini can give a risotto or sauce an intense and distinctive character.

Truffles of the Apennines: Precious Aromas from the Undergrowth

If porcini are the symbol of the autumn season, Apennine truffles represent one of the most prized products of Italian gastronomy. Here too, the area between Romagna and the Marche provides favourable conditions for the growth of several varieties.

The truffle grows underground in association with the roots of certain trees, including oaks, downy oaks, hornbeams, hazelnuts and poplars. Its presence is therefore closely linked to the characteristics of the soil and the surrounding vegetation.

Among the most prized varieties is the white truffle, famous for its particularly intense aroma and gastronomic value. Its use in cooking should be almost a matter of respect: a few paper-thin slices shaved directly over the dish can transform a simple preparation into an extraordinary aromatic experience.

Alongside the white truffle, there are several varieties of black truffle, widely used in traditional Apennine recipes. Their aroma pairs beautifully with pasta, eggs, cheese, meat and potato-based dishes.

Truffle Hunting: An Ancient Woodland Tradition

Truffle hunting is very different from mushroom foraging. The precious tuber grows underground and specially trained dogs are normally used to locate it, thanks to their extraordinary ability to detect its unmistakable aroma.

The relationship between the truffle hunter and the dog is an essential part of this tradition. Truffle hunting requires experience, knowledge of the environment and the ability to interpret the signs of the landscape. Knowing a particular plant or area is not enough: one must understand the woodland and respect its natural balance.

Truffle harvesting is also governed by specific regulations and must be carried out according to the rules established by the relevant region and local authorities. Respecting the permitted seasons and harvesting methods helps preserve this precious resource and ensures that the woodland can continue to provide its treasures for generations to come.

From the Woods to the Table: How to Cook Mushrooms and Truffles

Apennine cuisine has always sought to enhance its ingredients without unnecessarily complicating them. This philosophy is particularly well suited to mushrooms and truffles, products already characterised by intense aromas and flavours.

Fresh mushrooms can be the stars of tagliatelle, risottos, crostini, soups and side dishes, or they can accompany meat and cheese. Cooking should always be appropriate for the particular species and recipe, while avoiding excessively elaborate seasonings that might overpower their natural flavour.

Truffles, on the other hand, are best paired with relatively simple dishes. Fried eggs, fondue, buttered tagliolini or a smooth potato cream provide ideal bases for enhancing their aroma. In this case, the rule is almost always the same: the fewer ingredients there are, the more room there is for the truffle to shine.

Extra virgin olive oil is also a natural companion to both mushrooms and truffles. Its fruity character can enhance woodland aromas, especially when used in moderation.

Romagna and the Marche: Mountain Cuisine that Brings Territories Together

The gastronomic appeal of the Apennines also lies in the cultural continuity that crosses regional borders. Dialects, recipes and customs may change between Romagna and the Marche, but the woodland remains a shared resource.

Here, cuisine tells the story of a landscape made up of chestnut groves, oak and beech forests and small villages, where seasonality has always played a fundamental role.

This is also why a walk through the woods can, ideally, become a gastronomic journey. The scent of damp earth, the first autumn leaves, the undergrowth and the wood of the trees all become part of an experience that eventually continues at the table.

English Version

Summer in Rimini has a flavour all its own. It is the taste of sea salt on your skin, the warm breeze ruffling your hair at sunset, and the fresh seafood enjoyed after a relaxing day on the beach. In August, as temperatures rise, Romagna’s seaside cuisine takes on a lighter and fresher character. Alongside timeless favourites such as mixed grilled seafood and crispy fried fish, local chefs showcase the true kings of the open sea: swordfish and large pelagic fish. These tireless swimmers of the Adriatic Sea become the stars of light, fragrant and wonderfully refreshing dishes. Let us discover how Romagna’s chefs transform these treasures of the sea into an unforgettable dining experience.

What Are the Adriatic’s Large Pelagic Fish?

Before exploring the recipes, it helps to understand what large pelagic fish are. The term pelagic fish refers to species that live and swim in open waters, far from the seabed. While smaller pelagic fish include well-known favourites such as sardines and anchovies, the larger species are true giants of the sea. They include majestic swordfish, premium amberjack, Atlantic bluefin tuna, little tunny and Atlantic bonito, a fish that is often underestimated despite its exceptional flavour and texture. Their flesh is firm, rich in taste and naturally high in healthy Omega-3 fatty acids, making them an ideal choice for a nutritious meal that provides energy without feeling too heavy during the warm summer days in Rimini.

Swordfish Romagna Style: A Summer Interpretation of Tradition

Swordfish is undoubtedly the star of the table. Its firm, boneless flesh makes it popular with both children and adults who prefer fish without small bones. But how is swordfish prepared in Romagna?

While Southern Italian cuisine often pairs it with capers and olives in the famous Messina style, Romagna’s chefs prefer to highlight the fish by combining it with the region’s seasonal vegetables and herbs. One of the most popular dishes features lightly seared swordfish served with sweet cherry tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil produced in the hills of Romagna, and a generous sprinkling of fresh herbs such as basil and marjoram.

The secret lies in the cooking time. Swordfish should be cooked very quickly so that it remains tender, juicy and slightly pink in the centre. Served with a warm, freshly baked piadina flatbread, it becomes the perfect lunch before heading back to the beach for a relaxing afternoon.

Amberjack and Atlantic Bonito: The Secrets of Raw Seafood and Light Marinades

In recent years, Rimini’s culinary scene has embraced modern techniques while remaining faithful to its traditions. August is the perfect month for chilled seafood dishes and raw fish, and amberjack has become one of the undisputed favourites.

Romagna’s chefs often serve it as an elegant tartare or delicately sliced carpaccio. To enhance its naturally sweet flavour, the fish is lightly marinated with fresh local lemon juice or a splash of Albana wine, whose bright acidity creates a perfectly balanced finish.

Atlantic bonito, on the other hand, is enjoying a well-deserved revival. It is often prepared in a tuna-style recipe or quickly seared on the grill and served with diced Romagna nectarines. The combination of richly flavoured fish and the juicy sweetness of summer fruit has become one of the distinctive signatures of contemporary Romagna cuisine.

August Pasta Dishes: Seafood Sauces with the Flavour of the Adriatic

No Italian meal is complete without a delicious pasta course. During the summer months, large pelagic fish provide the perfect base for freshly prepared seafood sauces.

Swordfish or little tunny is finely diced by hand and briefly sautéed with garlic, a touch of chilli pepper and a splash of chilled Rebola wine. This simple yet flavourful sauce pairs beautifully with traditional Romagna pasta, from handmade strozzapreti to dry passatelli, a unique local speciality that never fails to surprise international visitors.

The finishing touch is a light grating of untreated lemon zest just before serving. Its fresh citrus aroma enhances the seafood and adds an invigorating fragrance that perfectly captures the essence of a summer meal on the Adriatic coast.

Profumi, benessere e tradizioni popolari

English Version

Walking along the Romagna Riviera or through the gentle hills that surround it means immersing yourself in a mosaic of fragrances that instantly evoke the summer season. Among the most distinctive are those of aromatic herbs, which have long been the stars of traditional cuisine and local rural culture. Rosemary, sage, thyme, wild fennel, savory, marjoram and oregano grow naturally or are cultivated in home gardens, becoming precious ingredients that enhance the authentic flavours of the region. Their presence is so deeply rooted in the local gastronomic tradition that they have become true symbols of summer. Just a few fresh leaves are enough to transform a simple recipe into a dish bursting with aroma and character, keeping alive a culinary heritage passed down from generation to generation.

Rosemary: the unmistakable scent of Romagna cuisine

Rosemary is probably the most representative aromatic herb of the Romagna Riviera. It thrives in the mild coastal climate, loves full sun and withstands even the hottest, driest summer periods. For this reason, it can be found in almost every vegetable garden and in the gardens of country homes throughout the region.

In the kitchen, rosemary is widely used to flavour roasted meats, baked potatoes, grilled vegetables and traditional flatbreads. Along the Adriatic coast, it is also a popular accompaniment to fish, especially sea bream, sea bass, mackerel and grilled sardines. Its intense fragrance enhances the natural flavour of the ingredients without overpowering their delicate taste. Since ancient times, rosemary has been regarded as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune. In many Romagna households, planting a rosemary bush near the entrance of the home was believed to bring protection and good luck.

Sage, thyme and savory: perfect companions for seafood and meat dishes

Sage is an essential ingredient in the region’s culinary tradition. Its fragrant leaves are used to season roasts, poultry, liver, melted butter and savoury fillings. During the summer, sage leaves are also delicious when dipped in batter and fried as a crispy appetizer. Thyme has a more delicate yet remarkably rich aroma. It pairs beautifully with baked fish, shellfish, vegetables and fresh cheeses. Its fragrance recalls the Mediterranean scrubland and works especially well in marinades made with extra virgin olive oil and lemon. Less well known but deeply connected with the traditions of the Apennines is savory. This aromatic herb has a pleasantly peppery flavour that makes it ideal for grilled meats, legumes, mushrooms and rustic sauces. In the past, it was widely used in farmhouse kitchens to enrich simple dishes prepared with ingredients freshly harvested from the garden.

Wild fennel: a natural treasure of the Adriatic coast

Among the wild herbs most appreciated in Romagna, wild fennel deserves a special mention. It grows along country roads, in sunny fields and in coastal areas, filling the air with its distinctive aniseed fragrance.

Its delicate leaves are traditionally used to flavour Adriatic oily fish, potatoes, summer salads and preserved vegetables in olive oil. The seeds, on the other hand, are commonly used in homemade bread, artisanal cured meats and traditional liqueurs. Harvesting wild fennel is still a popular summer activity for many nature enthusiasts, who continue to pass on to younger generations the importance of respecting both harvesting seasons and the natural environment.

Growing aromatic herbs at home

One of the greatest advantages of aromatic herbs is how easy they are to grow. Even a small balcony can become a fragrant green corner with pots of rosemary, sage, thyme, oregano and marjoram. These plants require very little maintenance: a sunny location, well-drained soil and moderate watering are all that is needed to enjoy abundant harvests throughout the summer. In Romagna’s vegetable gardens, aromatic herbs are often planted alongside tomatoes, courgettes, aubergines and peppers. Besides their culinary value, they attract pollinating insects and naturally help repel certain pests, contributing to a healthier and more balanced garden ecosystem.

Fragrance, well-being and folk traditions

Beyond their culinary importance, aromatic herbs have long been appreciated for their beneficial properties. Many are believed to aid digestion, stimulate the appetite and promote general well-being thanks to the essential oils naturally contained in their leaves. Romagna’s folk traditions also attributed symbolic meanings to these plants. Rosemary represented loyalty and family protection, sage was associated with longevity, while thyme symbolised courage. In many country homes, small bunches of dried herbs were kept in kitchen cupboards to perfume the rooms and help keep insects away. Even today, these ancient customs live on in the kitchens of the Romagna Riviera, where the fragrance of freshly picked herbs continues to accompany family meals, outdoor barbecues and traditional recipes that celebrate the deep connection between the local land and its rich culinary heritage.

English Version

September is one of the most enjoyable times of the year to discover the Romagna Riviera. The beaches are less crowded than in August, the weather is still pleasantly warm, and the entire area becomes a stage for major sporting events. From motorsport and cycling to international tennis, the Province of Rimini hosts three outstanding events that attract thousands of visitors from Italy and abroad: the MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera, the Italian Bike Festival, and the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour in Rimini.

If you would like to combine a relaxing seaside holiday with world-class sporting events, this is the perfect time to plan your stay—and Hotel Bing is ready to welcome you!

MotoGP at Misano: The Ultimate Racing Experience

The most eagerly awaited event is undoubtedly the Red Bull Grand Prix of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera, taking place from 11 to 13 September 2026 at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”. The race weekend includes free practice sessions, qualifying, the Saturday Sprint Race and Sunday’s Grand Prix, offering three unforgettable days for motorcycle racing fans.

Watching a MotoGP race live is an experience that goes far beyond the competition itself. The roar of the engines, breathtaking late braking, spectacular overtakes and the electric atmosphere in the grandstands create an unforgettable spectacle, even for those who only occasionally follow motorcycle racing. The paddock, sponsor villages, entertainment throughout the Riviera and the enthusiasm of thousands of fans turn the whole area into one huge celebration.

Misano is also one of the most iconic venues on the MotoGP calendar. The circuit is named after Marco Simoncelli, while the famous town of Tavullia, home of Valentino Rossi, is only a few kilometres away. These two legendary names have helped write some of the greatest chapters in Italian motorcycle racing history.

Italian Bike Festival: A Paradise for Cycling Enthusiasts

Just a few days before MotoGP, the Misano World Circuit also hosts the Italian Bike Festival, one of Europe’s leading exhibitions dedicated to the world of cycling. Born in Romagna, it has become a major meeting point for manufacturers, cyclists, tourism professionals and anyone passionate about two wheels.

For three days, hundreds of exhibitors from around the world showcase the latest road bikes, mountain bikes, gravel bikes, e-bikes and cutting-edge accessories. Visitors can test ride many of the newest models free of charge on dedicated tracks, attend product presentations, meet professional athletes and discover the innovations that will shape the cycling world in the coming seasons.

The festival is not just for experienced cyclists. Holidaymakers who enjoy exploring by bike will also find plenty of inspiration for discovering the local area in a sustainable way. The Province of Rimini offers dozens of scenic cycling routes linking the Adriatic coast with charming hilltop villages, medieval castles and the beautiful countryside that has made Romagna famous.

International Women’s Tennis Comes to Rimini

The sporting calendar continues with the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour, held at the Tennis Club Rimini. The tournament attracts promising young international players as well as athletes already competing in the world rankings, giving spectators the opportunity to enjoy high-quality professional tennis at affordable prices—or even free of charge on selected days.

At the time of writing, the final entry list has not yet been officially announced, as is customary until shortly before the tournament begins. This is precisely one of the event’s greatest attractions: visitors often have the chance to watch future WTA stars at the very beginning of their careers, enjoying world-class tennis in an intimate and welcoming atmosphere.

For tennis enthusiasts, it is a unique opportunity to discover tomorrow’s champions before they become household names.

Hotel Bing: The Perfect Base for Your Sporting Holiday

Staying at Hotel Bing means choosing an excellent location for reaching all these major events with ease. Misano Adriatico is just a short drive or train ride away, while the Tennis Club Rimini can be reached easily by bicycle or public bus.

You can enjoy these exciting sporting events without giving up the pleasures of a beach holiday, alternating a day at the race circuit or tennis courts with relaxing hours on the beach, strolls along the seafront and dinners in the excellent restaurants of the Riviera.

Whether you are a MotoGP fan, a cycling enthusiast or a tennis lover, September is the perfect time to discover a destination where sport, the sea, entertainment and genuine Romagna hospitality come together to create an unforgettable holiday.

English Version

Be honest: when you think of Rimini, your first thought inevitably goes to its long golden beach, the sea, the beach resorts and the days spent under a sun umbrella. Yet anyone who chooses the Romagna Riviera soon discovers that the holiday does not end when the sun goes down. In fact, it is in the evening that Rimini reveals one of its most fascinating sides. Between evening markets, museums open late, guided tours of the historic centre, cultural events and shopping nights, every day offers new opportunities to experience the city in a different way. For those staying at Hotel Bing in Miramare, all of this is easily accessible within minutes thanks to convenient connections with the historic centre and the seafront. Our hotel therefore becomes the ideal base for combining relaxation on the beach, excellent cuisine and enjoyable evenings discovering the city.

Evening markets: a different experience every night

One of the most popular attractions of the Rimini summer season is the wide range of evening markets that enliven the area from the historic centre to the coast. More than twenty events accompany residents and tourists throughout the summer, and their special feature is their ability to appeal to different audiences. Those who love creative craftsmanship and handmade items will find stalls selling ceramics, jewellery, fashion accessories, home decorations and unique artistic creations. Enthusiasts of antiques and vintage goods can instead enjoy searching for collectibles, old books, prints, vinyl records, furniture and fascinating objects from the past. There are also initiatives designed specifically for families, such as children’s markets, where young vendors offer toys, comics and second-hand items, turning an evening stroll into a moment of fun and social interaction.

The locations are equally varied. Some markets take place in the elegant squares of the historic centre, while others animate the seafront and seaside districts such as our own Miramare. This allows visitors to choose a different atmosphere every evening: the historic charm of the city’s squares or the refreshing sea breeze of a walk along the promenade. Strolling among the stalls after dinner is one of the most enjoyable ways to experience the Riviera, discover original products and soak up the authentic summer atmosphere of Romagna.

Rimini Shopping Night: the historic centre comes alive

Among the most eagerly awaited summer events is undoubtedly the Rimini Shopping Night. Every Wednesday evening, the historic centre transforms into a large open-air living room where shopping, culture and entertainment come together in a unique experience. Shops, boutiques, artisan stores, bars and restaurants stay open until late at night, allowing visitors to wander through the city streets in a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. Shopping Night is not just an opportunity to go shopping. Streets and squares come alive with music, aperitifs, performances and cultural initiatives that make every Wednesday different from the last. For many Riviera visitors, it is the ideal opportunity to discover a side of Rimini that goes far beyond its beaches, wandering among monuments, historic buildings and picturesque corners that tell more than two thousand years of history.

Museums open until 11 p.m.: culture after sunset

One of the most interesting aspects of Rimini Shopping Night is the chance to visit the city’s main museums during the coolest hours of the day. During summer Wednesdays, the City Museum, the Domus of the Surgeon and the Fellini Museum remain open until 11 p.m.

This is a particularly appreciated opportunity for tourists who spend the entire day at the beach and wish to devote the evening to discovering Rimini’s cultural heritage. The Domus of the Surgeon houses one of the most important archaeological discoveries of Roman Italy. The City Museum tells the story of Rimini from ancient times to the present day. The Fellini Museum, dedicated to the great Rimini-born film director, offers an immersive journey that combines cinema, art and imagination.Visiting these places after dinner, away from the heat and crowds of daytime hours, is an especially evocative experience.

Discovering Roman and Renaissance Rimini

For those who truly wish to get to know the city, evening guided tours are probably the most fascinating summer activity. Every Wednesday evening, the guided tour “The Wonders of Rimini” takes visitors through the most significant landmarks of the historic centre. Accompanied by professional guides, visitors can admire some of the city’s most iconic monuments: the Arch of Augustus, the oldest surviving Roman arch in Italy; the Tiberius Bridge, which has connected the city centre with Borgo San Giuliano for more than two thousand years; Piazza Cavour, the heart of civic life; Castel Sismondo; and the Malatesta Temple, a masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance. Walking among these monuments in the evening allows visitors to appreciate their full beauty. The soft lighting, cooler temperatures and lighter traffic transform the tour into a truly engaging experience. In short, in Rimini the day does not end at sunset: it is precisely when the sun goes down that the city begins to tell some of its most beautiful stories.

English Version

Summer on the Romagna Riviera is not only about sun, beaches and nightlife. In recent years, one of the most evocative events of the season has been Albe in Controluce, a free concert series that brings major Italian artists to perform on the beach in Riccione at sunrise over the Adriatic Sea. The 2026 edition will take place from June 21 to August 9, featuring six free-admission events on the open beaches of Marano and San Martino. It is now a well-established format that has become a symbol of Riccione’s summer identity: the audience gathers on the shore before dawn, immersed in the silence of the night slowly giving way to daylight. Music accompanies this transition, turning it into a powerful and emotional shared experience for locals and tourists of all ages. For guests staying at Hotel Bing in Miramare, Riccione is just a few minutes away and offers the perfect opportunity to experience something truly unique—starting the day with a live concert in an extraordinary natural setting.

Venerus Opens the Festival on June 21

The opening act of Albe in Controluce 2026 will be Venerus, performing on June 21 at Marano beach. Behind the stage name is Andrea Venerus, one of the most original voices of the new Italian music scene. His style blends songwriting, electronic music, soul, jazz and international influences, creating a refined and instantly recognizable sound. After beginning his career between Milan and London, Venerus gained recognition for his ability to craft immersive atmospheres. His live performances are often described as sensory experiences, perfectly suited to the suspended, almost dreamlike moment of sunrise.

MILLE Performs on July 5

The second concert, scheduled for July 5 on San Martino beach, will feature MILLE, the artistic name of Elisa Pucci. Singer, actress and songwriter, MILLE stands out for a highly personal style that blends pop music, theatrical elements and contemporary songwriting. Her songs explore emotions, relationships and everyday life with irony, sensitivity and a modern lyrical voice. On stage she brings energy and spontaneity, engaging the audience with songs that move between lightness and emotional depth.

Dutch Nazari: Between Rap and Songwriting

On July 12, the audience will enjoy a performance by Dutch Nazari, one of the most respected artists in the Italian independent music scene. Born in the Veneto region, Dutch Nazari has developed a distinctive artistic path between rap and songwriting. His lyrics are carefully crafted, rich in imagery and reflections on everyday life. His elegant and thoughtful writing addresses personal and social themes with great sensitivity, creating a direct connection with listeners. His music feels particularly suited to the sunrise atmosphere, where observation and introspection naturally come together.

Giovanni Truppi and His Unconventional Songwriting

On July 19, Giovanni Truppi will take the stage, an artist widely recognized as one of the most interesting voices in contemporary Italian music. A Neapolitan singer-songwriter, Truppi is known for his ability to express emotions, fragilities and contradictions of modern society through intense and thoughtful lyrics. His music moves across different genres, from rock to intimate songwriting, always marked by a strong artistic identity. His live performances create a direct and sincere relationship with the audience, turning each concert into a moment of shared humanity.

Sara Gioielli Between Jazz, Research and Musical Fusion

On July 26, the series continues with Sara Gioielli, featured in collaboration with the Riccione Summer Jazz program. A singer and composer with a versatile background, Sara Gioielli blends jazz influences, vocal experimentation and sonic research. Trained in both classical and jazz studies, she has developed a refined style that transcends traditional genre boundaries. Her performances are characterized by strong expressiveness and a continuous search for new sonic possibilities, making her one of the most interesting contemporary voices in the Italian jazz scene.

Grand Finale with Gloria Campaner and Thea Crudi

The closing event on August 9 at San Martino beach will feature Gloria Campaner and Thea Crudi with the project “Yantra. In the Temple of Sound”. Gloria Campaner is an internationally renowned pianist who has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls and festivals. Alongside her is Thea Crudi, a vocalist and researcher who has long explored the connection between voice, meditation and inner well-being. Together they will present a performance that goes beyond the traditional concert format, becoming an immersive experience where music, meditation, listening and nature merge into a single emotional journey. The sunrise over the Adriatic Sea will provide a breathtaking backdrop for an event designed to deeply engage the audience.

A Must-See Experience During a Holiday on the Riviera

Albe in Controluce is one of the most original events of the Romagna summer. Far from the intensity of nightlife, these concerts invite people to experience the sea in a different, more authentic and contemplative way. For those staying at Hotel Bing in Miramare, attending one of these events means discovering a new side of the Riviera: the quiet of early morning, the sound of waves, and music accompanying the sunrise. An unforgettable experience that adds a special touch to any holiday between Rimini and Riccione.

Notte Rosa 2026 a Rimini: il grande festival dell’estate accende la Riviera dal 19 al 21 giugno / Pink Night 2026 in Rimini: the Great Summer Festival Lights Up the Riviera from June 19 to 21

English Version

From June 19 to 21, 2026, Pink Night (La Notte Rosa) returns to Rimini and the entire Romagna Riviera. For more than twenty years, this spectacular event has symbolically marked the beginning of the Italian summer. For three days, the region is transformed into a huge open-air stage featuring concerts, live performances, beach events, light installations, DJ sets, cultural activities, and entertainment for families and young visitors. The 2026 edition will coincide with the summer solstice and once again embrace the slogan “Hit’s Summer”, an invitation to celebrate the season through music, energy, fun, and togetherness. Rimini will once again be one of the beating hearts of the festival, ready to welcome thousands of visitors from Italy and abroad.

Pink Night: the Riviera’s “New Year’s Eve of Summer”

Launched in 2006, Pink Night has become one of Italy’s most important tourism events. The festival involves the entire Romagna region, from the beaches of Ferrara to the Rimini Riviera, with more than one hundred kilometres of coastline animated by concerts, performances, and special events. The winning formula remains the same: transforming beaches, squares, promenades, historic centres, and monuments into pink-themed settings that create a unique atmosphere combining music, entertainment, culture, and local traditions. In 2026, Rimini will once again turn completely pink. Iconic landmarks such as the Tiberius Bridge, the Arch of Augustus, Piazzale Fellini, and the seafront promenade will be illuminated with special lighting displays and spectacular visual effects throughout the weekend.

Concerts, DJ Sets and Live Shows: Music Everywhere

Music will once again be one of the main attractions of Pink Night 2026. Rimini will host some of the festival’s most important events, including live concerts, beach parties, and large outdoor performances. One of the highlights will be the return of the RDS Summer Festival, taking place in Rimini on June 19 and 20 in the Piazzale Fellini and Federico Fellini Park area. Free to attend, the festival is expected to be one of the biggest attractions of the entire Pink Night weekend. Friday, June 19, will feature the RDS Party, a major dance music event that will officially open the summer solstice celebrations. On Saturday, June 20, the stage will welcome some of the leading names in contemporary Italian music, including Achille Lauro, The Kolors, Francesco Renga, Malika Ayane, Clara, Serena Brancale, Sangiovanni, Frah Quintale, Samurai Jay, Angie, Delia, and Lumiero. The event will be hosted by Anna Pettinelli and Leo Di Bello, alongside the young presenters of RDS Next. In addition to the headline concerts, visitors can enjoy beach DJ sets, events in the Riviera’s historic venues, live performances, and themed parties that will continue until sunrise.

Family Activities, Sports and Wellness on the Beach

Pink Night is not only about nightlife and music. One of the event’s most appreciated features is its ability to appeal to a wide variety of visitors, from families and children to young people and travellers looking for relaxing experiences. The 2026 programme will include children’s activities, creative workshops, seafront entertainment, and performances designed for all ages. Throughout the Riviera, family-friendly events, artistic performances, and activities for younger visitors will take place during the weekend. Special attention will also be given to wellness and outdoor activities. Sunrise yoga sessions, fitness classes, seaside walks, and sporting events will accompany the first light of day during the summer solstice weekend. This slower and more relaxing side of Pink Night continues to be one of the event’s most appreciated aspects, successfully combining celebration, wellbeing, and high-quality tourism experiences.

Rimini Among Pink Lights, Historic Landmarks and a Unique Atmosphere

During the Pink Night weekend, Rimini completely changes its appearance. The streets of the historic centre fill with visitors, restaurants and bars offer themed menus and cocktails, while hotels, shops, and beach establishments decorate their spaces with the festival’s signature pink colour. Part of the event’s charm lies in its ability to showcase the city’s most iconic locations. Walking along a pink-lit seafront promenade, attending a concert by the sea, or enjoying performances in the historic squares becomes a memorable experience that attracts thousands of people every year. Visitors are also eagerly awaiting the light installations and evening shows that help create the immersive atmosphere that has always distinguished Pink Night from other Italian summer festivals.

Why Experience Pink Night 2026 in Rimini?

Taking part in Pink Night means experiencing Rimini at its most vibrant and spectacular time of the year. Music, the sea, entertainment, culture, and social life come together in an event unlike any other on the Italian tourism calendar. With the major attraction of the RDS Summer Festival, a top-class music line-up, events spread across the entire Riviera, and the magic of the summer solstice, the weekend of June 19–21, 2026 promises to be one of the most exciting editions in recent years. Whether you choose to attend the concerts in Piazzale Fellini, stroll along the illuminated beach, join a seaside party, or simply enjoy the festive atmosphere of the Riviera, Pink Night is sure to offer unforgettable emotions and memories. And of course, at Hotel Bing we are ready to welcome you and help you make the most of this special opportunity to discover Rimini and the Riviera from a completely different perspective.

Serena Brancale (4 agosto 2026 – Gratuito).

Eiffel 65 (14 agosto 2026 – Live Set Gratuito).

The Adriatic Riviera is gearing up to welcome its guests with an endless lineup of summer initiatives. Between shows and events—ranging from culture and sports to literature and food & wine—there will be hundreds of appointments to enjoy during your holidays.

The Musical Summer in Rimini

Today, we are focusing on the music scene. You can read about Vasco Rossi’s concert at Rimini’s Romeo Neri Stadium in two previous posts on this blog, but “Il Blasco” isn’t the only famous singer performing on the Riviera this summer. On June 7th, just a few days after the Zocca-born rocker’s performance, the Romeo Neri Stadium will host Achille Lauro for the preview of “Comuni Immortali,” his new live project starting in Rimini before hitting Italy’s major stadiums.

On Saturday the 20th, as part of the now-traditional Notte Rosa (Pink Night), which officially kicks off on June 19th, there will be a major festival featuring the biggest names in music. Sunday will launch the Liscio Street Parade, an event dedicated to traditional Romagnolo music and dance. For three days (June 21–23), Rimini’s Piazzale Kennedy will transform into a massive open-air dance floor, hosting orchestras, dance schools, and DJs for a celebration of passion and tradition.

On July 31st, Piazzale Fellini will host “Me contro Te,” true stars for children and families. Luì and Sofì will headline the opening of an exceptional event, #RiminiWow (July 31 – August 2), which every summer turns the square into a fun-filled village for YouTubers, TikTokers, content creators, and influencers.

What’s happening in Riccione?

As part of its “Riccione Music City” initiative, Riccione is launching a stellar lineup of names that will fill Piazzale Roma. From the grand opening on June 1st with various Italian artists to a series of exceptional concerts (some free, some ticketed), here is the official schedule:

Geolier (July 11, 2026): The Neapolitan rapper and undisputed chart-topper brings his explosive mix of drill, urban, and Neapolitan melody to Riccione. Following his moral victory at Sanremo 2024 and the global success of the album Dio lo sa, Geolier has become the voice of a generation.

Emma (July 15, 2026): Grit, heart, and a raspy voice that leaves an impression: Emma returns to the stage with the strength that has defined her for over a decade. Fans can sing along to historic hits like La mia città and Non è l’inferno, as well as recent successes like Apnea and Mezzo mondo.

Ernia (July 18, 2026): Considered one of the “golden pens” of Italian rap, Ernia blends lyrical introspection with incredibly engaging beats. With a career built on meaningful lyrics and a unique style, he has won over both critics and the general public.

Pooh (July 21, 2026): We are talking about the history of Italian music with Pooh, the band that has inspired generations with their vocal harmonies and classics. Roby Facchinetti, Dodi Battaglia, Red Canzian, and Riccardo Fogli will take us on an emotional journey through a 50-year career, from Piccola Katy to Pensiero.

Negramaro (July 24, 2026): Led by the unmistakable voice of Giuliano Sangiorgi, Negramaro will turn Piazzale Roma into a grand rock theater under the stars. The band from Salento is famous for intense, emotional performances that blend electronic sounds with Italian songwriting.

Serena Brancale (August 4, 2026 – Free): A pure talent and exceptional multi-instrumentalist, Serena Brancale brings a breath of fresh jazz and soul to Riccione. She has climbed the viral charts by bringing the Bari dialect into the world of modern funk with hits like Baccalà.

Noemi (August 8, 2026 – Free): With her unmistakable bluesy tone and interpretative elegance, Noemi returns to enchant the audience in a free-entry evening. The Roman artist will revisit the highlights of her career, from Sono solo parole to her more rhythmic summer hits.

Eiffel 65 (August 14, 2026 – Free Live Set): The eve of Ferragosto in Riccione lights up with the rhythm of the Italian dance music that conquered the planet. Eiffel 65 will turn the square into an open-air disco with a high-energy live set led by the legendary Blue (Da Ba Dee).

Riccardo Cocciante (August 29, 2026): A giant of international music arrives for a memorable concert. The author of monumental works and a performer of extraordinary vocal power, Cocciante will offer the audience an intense experience with milestones like Margherita and Bella senz’anima.

Gianni Morandi (September 10, 2026): Closing the “Riccione Music City” season is the “eternal boy” of Italian music. Gianni Morandi, with his overwhelming energy and timeless charisma, brings a repertoire spanning sixty years, uniting grandparents and grandchildren in a collective celebration.
